About

Hi! I'm kristjan from Estonia ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ช.

At the moment, I live in sunny Portugal ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡น and work on my business. Occasionally I also write about life. This is what this website is for.

I used to work asa software engineer in the Department of Space Technology of University of Tartu on couple of projects relating to robotic ๐Ÿค– operations where I helped to build a mission planning tool for the European Space Agency ๐Ÿš€ ๐Ÿ›ฐ๏ธ.

I pour my expertise and individuality into everything I build. I do the best work I can and have a great time while I'm at it.

For a while, I was also a front-end engineer at the Estonian Public Broadcasting. There, among tons of other stuff, I re-vamped the accessibility features of their news portal (the biggest in Estonia) and built front-end components โ€“ some of which are still used by thousands of people daily.

But before all that...

After graduating University of Tartu (the best university in Estonia btw) I worked for a while as an associate in a prestegious law firm in Tallinn, Estonia. Determined to become a top tax lawyer, I then went on to continue my studies in Netherlands ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฑ โ€“ the hub and oasis of wisdom of anything tax related.

So, I enrolled in Maastricht University and moved to this small city with a population of ~100k. I learned some Mandarin Chinese, picked up an interest in photography, and traveled a bit around Europe. I had many life-changing events and other amazing memories happen to me while living there.

By the time I received my LL.M degree, I began to have doubts if law was what I actually wanted to do in my life. I didn't. ๐Ÿคจ

Somehow I ended up being a translator at the European Parliment in Luxembourg ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡บ. Also, around that period I became absolutely obsessed about photography ๐Ÿ“ธ. I was thinking about it 24/7. I lived an breathed this.

I went out to practice taking photos every day, studied many world-famous pictures from the MAGNUM group, read books and articles, and watched videos about photography โ€“ street photography to be more specific. I took thousands and thousands of photos. I got a prize ๐Ÿ† at a festival and started this blog.

This was an amazing, another life-altering period of my life.

In 2019 I became determined about going to Taiwan ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ผ. I knew I had to go there, or I'd die (inside), I don't know why Taiwan, but the urge was very strong and perhaps partly to do with my Chinese language interest.

Indeed, life had a huge surprise planned for me. The Taiwan period was about to have an unbelievably strong impact to my life. It would change the course of my life forever....

When I have time off, I like to read books, write to my journal, take long walks, exercise, travel, and of course โ€“ code ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ’ป.
